How does wireless compare to a dial-up connection?

Although sold as a 56k connection, a 56k dial-up connection operates at a maximum speed of 53k; and this speed is only achieved under the best of conditions.  The average dial-up connection has an effective speed of less than 40k.  A 256k broadband is about 5 times faster than dial-up.  With 802.11b wireless networking we can currently accommodate up to 11 Mbps.  New and emerging wireless technologies can accommodate up to 72 Mbps.  The cost of a basic connection with us will cost less than the cost of a phone line and the subscription to a 24/7 package to a dial-up ISP.

How does wireless compare to ADSL?

Although comparable in its ability for high speed connections, ADSL service is distance sensitive.  The further you are from the exchange, the slower the connection. ADSL is only available in areas where the exchange has been enabled.  ADSL can take up to 4-6 weeks to install after ordering.  UK Wireless can offer faster speeds than ADSL and can sometimes be installed the same day you order service.

How does wireless compare to cable?

In a cable environment, each customer is statically allocated a percentage of the cable's potential. Because of this necessary allocation, subscribers are unable to share the full potential of available bandwidth even when it's available. In a wireless environment, this allocation is dynamic, allowing the customer to use all available bandwidth, right up to their selected level of connection.
